Golden Bear to become the Official Waste and Recycling Partner of the team
— October 1, 2024 — Golden Bear Environmental, a leader in sustainable waste management, proudly announces our strategic partnership with the Washington Commanders. As the Official Waste and Recycling Partner of the team, Golden Bear will provide a comprehensive suite of sustainability services aimed at implementing a zero-waste program. Our focus is on minimizing landfill use while enhancing operational efficiencies at Northwest Stadium and supporting facilities.
Rooted in the DMV with global operations, Golden Bear is dedicated to delivering customized solutions that maximize waste diversion and reduce the organization’s environmental impact. Our services encompass the collection, handling, and processing of MSW, recyclables, and construction and demolition, as well as industry-leading composting solutions.
This partnership embraces forward-thinking strategies that will benefit our community and environment. Right out of the gate, we will work to enhance recycling and composting efforts within the stadium, allowing us to divert materials from landfills to alternative processing locations such as our affiliate paper mill group based in Williamsport, MD. The mill exclusively uses recycled paper products to produce 100% recycled, sustainable building materials. This collaboration with the Washington Commanders reinforces our organization’s commitment to building a circular economy and enhances our overall sustainability efforts.
“Our partnership with the Washington Commanders is an exciting opportunity for all of us,” says Golden Bear President/CEO David Chakola. “As a lifelong fan, it’s an honor to be able to collaborate with this organization, during such a pivotal time, working to enhance their waste, recycling, and sustainability programs. As a rapidly growing company in the DMV, we see this partnership as vital for making a meaningful impact in our community. I’m excited about the innovative tools we’ll bring to Northwest Stadium and eager to support the Commanders. ”
“We are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our stadium operations,” said Fletcher Coffman, Vice President of Operations, Washington Commanders. “Golden Bear is a trusted leader in the sustainability industry, and we are excited to tap into their expertise to expand upon our sustainability efforts and create a cleaner, safer environment for our community and fans.”
“We’re excited to partner with the Washington Commanders to design actionable material management strategies that align with their sustainability goals,” added Kellie Dalton, Golden Bear’s Director of Sustainability & Client Relations, and TRUE Advisor. “Together, we hope to inspire fans and the broader community to take action towards a zero-waste lifestyle or simply taking steps to reducing their footprint.”
